It depends on the insurer’s rules. Sometimes a refund is possible before the policy start date (minus a technical fee); sometimes refunds are not available. Submit your request in advance.

How is authenticity checked and do I need an original?

Border/road authorities can verify the policy number and details via databases. We recommend keeping the policy on your phone and a printed copy in the glovebox.

Do I need a new policy if my route changes / for transit?

If you plan to stay longer and your policy is expiring, contact support at support@attolloassistance.com or submit a new application on our website.

What should I do if an accident happens abroad?

Is towing/roadside assistance included?

No. Standard “Green Card” coverage is liability to third parties only. Roadside assistance (towing, tire service, fuel delivery) is typically extra.

What happens at the border if I don’t have a “Green Card”?

Possible risks: refusal of entry, fines, or the obligation to buy a policy at the border (depending on local rules and checkpoints).

Can I buy it online and how long does it take?

Yes. Completing the form takes about 5–10 minutes. The policy is issued electronically and sent by email/available in your account. Payment is by bank card. Issuance is typically within the same business day after you submit the application (subject to verification).

Which vehicles require it and who can be the policyholder?

Suitable for: passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and buses. The policyholder is the owner or an authorized person (with supporting documents/power of attorney). Any person driving the vehicle is insured under the policy terms (as specified by the insurer).

What is a “Green Card” and why do I need it?

This is third‑party motor liability insurance for driving in Russia (an OSAGO‑type policy). It covers damage to the other party’s vehicle if you are at fault, and compensation for bodily injury/property damage to third parties.
